Client Introduction
Sarah Grace Tuttle is an author of children's books, flash fiction for adults, and poetry for both children and adults. They reached out to Josie to redesign their existing Wix website, but after they started working together, Sarah decided they wanted to move to a new platform instead.
Sarah had consulted with an artist, Rachel Sotak, about updating their website banner and she connected Sarah with Josie at Bespoke Digital Solutions.

The Challenge
Sarah wanted to incorporate new website banner artwork and reorganize their website to highlight their recent works for a new audience: adults. They initially wanted a website redesign on Wix, but personal reasons led them to seek a different platform. Among the challenges they faced were:
Needing to migrate all existing website content (including 69 blog posts) to a new platform
Wanting to reorganize content to better showcase their publications and align with new goals focused on reaching adult readers
Needing a custom domain email address to ensure marketing email deliverability
Wanting to add an online shop to sell handmade bookmarks, copies of their printed chapbooks, and possibly their own self-published works in the future
Ensuring the website would be accessible to the widest possible audience

The Solution
Josie recommended migrating to Squarespace because it's a platform she prefers working in and it's very user-friendly for clients to manage themselves. The solutions for Sarah included:
Platform migration: Moved all existing website content from Wix to Squarespace, including 12 core website pages, 8 book/publication information pages, and 69 blog posts
Content reorganization: Structured the website to align with Sarah's publications-related goals and make it easier for visitors to find specific types of written works
Contact list migration: Transferred contacts from Wix to Squarespace, excluding those who hadn't signed up for blog or newsletter updates
Custom domain email setup: Set up a new Google Workspace account with a custom domain email address to ensure better deliverability of marketing emails
Email marketing setup: Configured Squarespace to send marketing emails and sent test emails to confirm the look and feel of outgoing messages. Josie also helped Sarah select the right email marketing plan for their needs at this time
Online shop: Set up a new online shop for selling handmade bookmarks, copies of their printed chapbooks, and possibly their own self-published works in the future
Accessibility improvements: Made adjustments wherever possible to improve accessibility, including color contrast between text and backgrounds and alt text for all images. Squarespace handles many accessibility features well by default, especially for people using screen readers or navigating with keyboards
