Case Study: Website Revamp
TLDR: MovementWorks had an outdated Squarespace 7.0 website that left parents confused about offerings and schedules. Josie redesigned the site from the ground up — establishing cohesive branding, reorganizing content for easy navigation, and creating a modern experience that clearly showcases everything the studio has to offer.
Client Introduction
MovementWorks Dance and Fitness specializes in developmentally appropriate dance, tumbling, creative movement, and fitness classes for children and adults. Owner and director Jess Widener-Pruitt has built a studio rooted in inclusive, age-appropriate movement — and a sister organization, Movement Pathways, that extends that mission even further.

The Challenge
MovementWorks' existing website was built on Squarespace's legacy 7.0 platform — a version that lacks modern functionality and flexibility. The site had grown disorganized over time, making it difficult for visitors to understand what classes were available, what the schedules looked like, and how to sign up. As Jess described it, parents were regularly telling her the website was confusing to navigate. The studio's online presence simply wasn't keeping pace with everything MovementWorks had to offer.
“We were looking to get some things restructured and easier to navigate on our website… [Josie] was thorough and willing to help us understand things [on the back-end]. Great work and very close attention to detail!”
— Jess Widener-Pruitt, Director, MovementWorks
The Solution
Josie rebuilt the MovementWorks website with clarity and cohesion as the guiding principles:
Established a unified visual identity by developing a color palette that coordinates with the MovementWorks logo and selecting fonts with a similar aesthetic — giving the site a polished, consistent look throughout.
Redesigned the Home page with new content that puts a human face on the studio, introduces Jess, and gives visitors an immediate sense of the full range of offerings available.
Reorganized site content using blog-like directory functionality to sort classes and programs into browsable categories, so customers can quickly find what's relevant to them.
Highlighted key calls to action, including a link to leave a Google Review and a link to the sister organization, Movement Pathways.
Created written and video resources to support Jess in maintaining the site going forward, including guides for updating class listings, managing registration preferences, and updating the site seasonally.
The Impact
The new MovementWorks website gives the studio a professional, navigable online home that matches the quality of its programming. Visitors can now clearly see what classes are offered, understand the studio's personality, and take action — whether that's registering for a class, leaving a review, or learning more about Movement Pathways. Jess also walks away with the tools and documentation to keep the site up to date with confidence.
